Bordeaux produces a wide range of wines :
red wines, rosé wines,
dry white wines, sweet white wines
and even some sparkling wines.
Total Bordeaux industry sales (2002-2003) can be valued
at 3 Billion €,
of which Exports represent 40% of this total.
The overall production of AOC wines within the entire region of Bordeaux is 6 million hectolitres (the equivalent of 800 million
750ml bottles or 66 million cases of 9 litres).
The red wines represent 83 % of this total, whites 15% and rosés 2%.
Approximately 9 300 individual viticultural estates produce Bordeaux wines making the average surface area
of 13,5 (33 acres) per estate.
