Pessac-Léognan

The classification system for the Pessac-Léognan region dates back to 1959. 13 estates have "Cru Classé" status for the red wines. 8 estates have the "Cru Classé" status for the white wines. Contrary to the Medoc, there is no further levels of rank within this "Cru Classé" category.
Although not officially "Cru Classé", some châteaux are nonetheless considered by the trade as "Cru Classé or assimilated". Example: Ch La Louviere in both red and white.
