NAME BLASON D'ISSAN
pronounced: "Bla zon dee San"
(2nd wine of Château d’Issan, 3rd Growth)

PROPRIETOR Cruse family since 1945.

APPELLATION Margaux, 2nd wine

VINEYARD 32 Hectares. This château, built in the XVII century and which resembles Cinderella’s castle, is one of the most beautiful of the Médoc. Same as Château d'Issan: deep fine gravel and sandy subsoil.

VARIETALS 75% Cabernet Sauvignon
25% Merlot
Average age: 18-20 years

PRODUCTION 4000 - 5000 cases

VINIFICATION Harvested 100% by hand (to avoid early crushing and excess oxidation prior to fermentation). The juice is fermented in stainless steel, all of which are equipped with integrated and automatic temperature-control systems. The ageing process lasts up to 16 months in oak barrels (35% new oak which includes 5% new american oak).

STYLE BLASON is deep and dark in colour. It has exuberant and complex aromas of ripe red berries and spiced-vanillin flavours. On the palate, the wine is rich and round. This is exactly what one is looking for in a 2nd wine: up-front, ripe and round fruit and a wine which is delightful when young. A real VALUE !
