| MARKET NOTE |
It is really since 1996 that the younger Jugla generation (Brigitte and Denis) has taken the commands of the estate with quality being their major objectif. Indeed, the soils were analyzed, the pruning altered followed by numerous investments to renovate the reception of the harvest, various technical equipement and the barrel cellars. Lastly, starting with vintages 1999-2000, the first green harvesting and deleafing was conducted as well as pre-fermentation macerations at 4°.
Due to the estate's unexciting past but renewed and bettered quality, Pédesclaux now represents one of the finer values amongst the least expensive Classified Growths. Their best wines start with the 2000 vintage, but it is really with the 2001 and notably the 2002 that one finds extremely polished, clean and well made wines from Pédesclaux.
Barrière has taken a major stand on this estate since the 2001 vintage. |
