NAME LACOSTE BORIE
(2nd wine of Ch. Grand Puy Lacoste)

PROPRIETOR Xavier BORIE

APPELLATION Pauillac, 2nd wine

VINEYARD 45 hectares on the “Bages” plateau, south of the village of Pauillac, the soil is classic deep gravel.
VARIETALS 70% Cabernet Sauvignon
25% Merlot
5% Cabernet Franc

PRODUCTION 8,000 – 10,000 cases

VINIFICATION Harvested exclusively by hand, with a second selection process at the reception of the harvest. Stainless steel and epoxy-lined vats for a traditional fermentation. Aged 18 months in oak barrels of which 15 to 20 % are renewed each year. A third wine is also made which reinforces the quality of the 1st two wines.

STYLE True-blue Pauillac with exceptional breed and texture. A classic claret lover’s wine ! Very pleasant to drink over the 3-5 years (perhaps more in top vintages) after the bottling. A very good bargain.

Though often overshadowed in the media wars, Grand Puy Lacoste is amongst those few who produce the real “Grands Vins” which are emulated internationally.
