Traditional in stainless steel vats. 100% destalking. 3-4 weeks maceration followed by ageing in oak barrels (of which 15% are renewed each year). There is a severe selection process which is used to make Ch. Haut-Pauillac. The declassified wine is sold as a generic Pauillac. |

| MARKET NOTE |
As R. Parker confirms, if there was a reclassification, Ch. Fonbadet would certainly be a 5th Growth. The style often resembles that of Lynch Bages and Haut Bages Liberal. Although only the second wine, Ch. Haut Pauillac is strikingly similar in its deep colour, rich cassias bouquet and powerful structure. A technically perfect wine. The relatively old age of the vineyard and its excellent terroir gives the wine sufficient breed and class to excite any palate. |
