NAME HAUT BELIAN rouge PRESTIGE (Château)

APPELLATION Bordeaux

COMMUNE Soussac

VINEYARD 86 hectares planted on the hills between Dordogne and Garonne. The PRESTIGE wine comes from a plot on 12 hectares. These 12 ha have the best exposition and are planted with old vines planted densely. Soil: Clay-limestone.
VARIETALS 50% Merlot
50% Cabernet Sauvignon

PRODUCTION 40.000 bottles

VINIFICATION Traditional vinification with fermentation at 28°C followed by a long maceration to extract as much character as softly as possible. Aged 8 months in oak barrels with fine grains.

STYLE Intense red colour. Aromas of cacao (coffee), toasted bread and red berries. Elegant and yet dense structure with well integrated notes of oak barrels.

MARKET NOTE The wine is aged in 300-liter oak barrels (vs. traditional 225-liter Bordeaux barrel). The increased barrel size slows down the integration of wood aromas in the wine, so the primary fruit aromas from the ripe grapes are being respected. The result is stunning.
