NAME GRAND BATEAU Rouge
pronouced: "Grand Ba-toe"
Bordeaux Rouge AOC

APPELLATION Bordeaux

VINEYARD A selection was made from the best vineyard areas in Bordeaux.
VARIETALS 75% Merlot
25% Cabernet Sauvignon

PRODUCTION 400 000 bottles

VINIFICATION Traditional vinification in stainless steel and temperature controlled vats. After fermentation the “ micro-bullage ” process is used (light oxygenation in vat) resulting in better colour and aromatic structure.

For the recent vintages (since 2000): 30-35% of the overall production was aged in oak barrels (including new oak barrels) during 6 months. Bottling is done 12 to 15 months following the harvest.

STYLE Expressive nose of ripe red fruits, spices and with an elegant touch of new oak. Harmonious and relatively powerful wine with appealing and round fruit flavours. Ripe tannins and savoury finish. Each year, we make the necessary grape selections and impose rigorous vinification and ageing methods enabling us to regularly produce wines of exceptional quality and with stable pricing.
Perfect for drinking now.

MARKET NOTE The boat which decorates the Grand Bateau label is the internationally recognised symbol of CHATEAU BEYCHEVELLE, classified growth in Saint-Julien, whose history has frequently been associated to maritime themes.
