| VINIFICATION |
Whilst the duration in oak and the percentage of new oak may be inferior to that for the Grand Vin, Clos du Marquis nevertheless is vinified and aged exactly as The Grand Vin.
Moreover, Clos du Marquis benefits from a selection process to identify and isolate vats which are insufficient to the composition of this wine. |

|
| STYLE |
Often outstanding, regularly the best of the 2nd (or "other") wines of Bordeaux and usually equal in quality to many a 1st wine from other prestigeous estates. |

| MARKET NOTE |
The name Clos du Marquis has existed since the early 20th Century. Until the late 1980's, Clos du Marquis was a classic 2nd wine in that it was made from wines coming from younger vines and/or wines which did not have the constition to be in the Grand Vin.
Since 1989, Clos de Marquis comes only from parcels situated outside of "Le Grand Clos" making this not a 2nd wine, but simply an other wine from this estate. |
