VINIFICATION Harvest manually. Vinification in stainless steel and epoxy-lined cement vats with temperature control by thermal pipes. Length of vating is approximately one month. Traditional ageing between 12 to 18 months in oak barrels (40% new oak barrels each years). Fining in barrel with egg whites. 
   
STYLE Cherry and plum character with excellent depth and concentration. 
   
MARKET NOTE While Chasse Spleen was easily classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, the market considers it more as an equivalent 3rd or 4th Grand Cru Classé. Chasse Spleen is always properly priced and has outstanding regularity of quality. As such, it is one of the Médoc's soundest brands.

So ! Who really baptised so perfectly this estate "Chasse Spleen" (or chasse away the blues) ? Was it the English poet Lord Byron or the Frenchman Baudelaire ? The answer could be at the bottom of the bottle ...
